Dr. Kofman is a pediatric physical therapist whose practices and incorporates whole child approach principles with children on an individual basis and in groups to enhance gross motor skill acquisition.
Dr. Kofman specializes in treating children from infancy to young adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorders, PDD, Muscular Dystrophy, Spinal Muscular Atrophy, Cerebral Palsy, Global Developmental Delay, Sensory Integration Dysfunction, Down Syndrome, Spinal deformities (Scoliosis, Kyphosis), Orhopedic and acquired disorders (i.e. TBI) focusing on optimizing each child's functional potential.
Therapy services are provided at home, center and/or school.
Dr. Kofman is inspired by her yoga teacher Sonia Sumar to apply Yoga's amazing benefits and hope to continue discovering each child's unlimited potential via mind, body and spirit connection.
Yoga helps children reduce hyperactivity, balance emotions, improves concentration, coordination, and self-control in children with learning disabilities and developmental delays. Children learn to trust their instincts, increase self-esteem, increase their strength & flexibility, calm mind & ease tension and improve body and spatial awareness.
Yoga for the Special Child method is practiced on an individual basis or in group setting in a non-competitive manner with emphasis on harmony and optimal benefits.
