  • Built originally on 1865, the Country Colonial Bed and Breakfast is in the "Heart of Amish Country" downtown Jamesport, Missouri. Members of the "Inspected and Approved" B&B's of the "Bed and Breakfast Inns of Missouri" for 15 years it has been fully restored and renovated, it offers guests, in Amish Country, a "Step Back in Time" as you enter a home of yester-year. Sit on the forty foot Veranda, with it's private access from the "Veranda Room, and sip a cool glass of Mint Tea, in the double swing, while watching the Amish horse and buggies, clip-clop buy. In the evening enjoy a Sunset, Clydesdale Drawn Vis-a-Vis Carriage Ride though the Amish Country Side. You will pass the Amish School, the Mennonite School and Church, two Amish Dairy Farms, and two Amish Deer Farms, where you can often actually pet the deer. When you arrive back at the house, there is warm home-made pie and ice cream awaits for your desert. The Parlor is done in rich reds, with roses, full of antiques and a Baby Grand Piano. You will also (maybe) find the secret compartment above the fireplace, and behind the Mirror that hides the TV, DVD/VCR and Dish Network controller. But you may have a bit more trouble finding the "Secret Passageway" that leads to the owners’ quarters. There are about 500 Antique books in the library, which overlooks the patio and flower gardens. Such collections as a full set of Mark Twain (second edition), a complete Shakespeare, and lots of fun books like, "The Principals of Domestic Science", which will actually tell you how to operate a broom. The Veranda Room, $95, boasts a Jenny Lind Canopy Bed, a 6 1/2 foot Copper Bath Tub, built in St Louis in 1865 and affords a delicious deep soaking tub for one (or two). Light the candles, and totally relax. Of course the Veranda always invites romantics to sit and watch the stars, while the exquisite stained glass Church windows across the street provide a backdrop for the horse drawn buggies going by. The Rose Room, $85, has a Pre-Civil War Rope Feather Bed, a large Ceramic Tile shower in it's Private Bath. This Room is furnish in Antiques as are the other rooms but, has a schifferrobe for your clothes. The Blue Room is, of course decorated in Blues, and has a head board draped, Victorian Brass and Iron Bed a rocking chair, to sit and read, and a Shower in its Private Bath. In the morning, awake to the aroma of bacon sizzling, hot coffee, and a full, bountiful Country Breakfast. It is a "more than you can eat" breakfast, including our "signature dish" of “Cinnamon Raison French Toast”. Always complementary sodas, fruit and ice, and Waters in the frig. Breakfast is always included in the room rate. There has been a recent murder in Jamesport, and don't miss your chance to solve the mystery at one of our "Murder Mystery Weekends", guaranteed to make you laugh and have the time of your life, not to be forgotten. Jamesport has 5 Festivals a year and is Home to Missouri's Largest Amish Community numbering 2000 strong, "Old Order Amish" and growing. They live the "simpler" life with no electric power, radios, televisions, automobiles, or even a riding lawn mower. Only compressed air for the "power tools" in their shops, or to operate their ceiling fans in the shops. The Amish have two beautiful new Furnature Stores, in addition to over 30 more business on their farms in the surrounding 5 miles. To learn more just search for Jamesport B&Bs and you can learn more, as well as see lots of pictures.. Jamesport is like a "Step Back in Time", a look back to an era past and never to be seen again. A place where people are still friendly and wave to each other all the way down the street.
