- IBSA is a nonprofit organization that provided job search and microenterprise training to low and moderate income popuations. The agency also provides advocacy on issues pertaining to youth, ex-offenders and minority owned businesses. IBSA contracts with state agencies and organization that administer Workforce Investment Act services, as well as providing services to those that can afford to pay on a sliding scale. Our hours are Monday through Friday 9am to 6pm and Saturday by appointment only. Located in downtown Topeka, the Capitol City of Kansas, we are located directly across from city hall and the county seat offices. IBSA is an independent organization and we receive minimal support from corporations. Our wholistic approach to service providing and our focus on populations that have failed to benefit from traditional agencies makes us unique in both the City of Topeka as well as the State of Kansas. IBSA is the only agency approved by the state to provide entrepreneurial training, development and support services to individuals eligible for Workforce Investment Act training and services. Our agency has physical offices in Topeka and Kansas City Kansas and we provide WIA training and employment services primarily in Shawnee, Leavenworth and Wyandotte County. The population we serve are primarily individuals that are deemed low to moderate income; which includes both youth and adults. Our biggest change to date is a campaign to acquire the building properties our offices reside in. We have established a fund with the Topeka Community Foundation to facilitate giving and management of funds. We intend to host a nonprofit incubator for like-agencies that work with youth and adults, transitional living space for youth aging out of foster care and a comprehensive youth development center. Our goal is $250,000. Additionally, we are expanding to other states and have established a virtual presence via representatives in Sag Harbor New York, Baton Rouge Louisiana and Houston Texas. IBSA has a staff of three employees and over 5 volunteers that provide numerous hours of service work.
