Swansea, SC: Looking northeast from W Third Street up Cardiff Avenue at some forlorn storefronts in Swansea, SC. It is safe to assume that these businesses were tied to the Southbound Railroad traffic at one time. A lot of the streets in Swansea (and the town) are named after cities in Wales, including Cardiff, Monmouth, and Brecon. Judging by the non-Welsh names of the names of the founders of the town, the choice was more likely an affection than a reflection of their ethnic heritage.
