Description: Paul Dauwalder started his hardware store in 1956 at Thomas and Scottsdale Road. In February of 1992, after 3 expansions the Scottsdale store moved back to its roots, to its current location on Scottsdale and Thomas Roads. Paul and his son Don opened a second location in 1973 in Fountain Hills on Saguaro Blvd. In 1986 it was relocated to what was the old Bashas' store. Bursting at the seams, the store moved to its current location in the Bashas' Shopping Center on Palisades and LaMontana in June of 1998. Paul's acquired its Tempe location on Broadway Road in the early 1990's. Paul's added a full-service lumberyard to the Tempe location in 1994 and a rental yard in 2005. In 2006 we opened our fourth store in Gilbert, located on Gilbert and Baseline Roads. In June 2007 we opened the doors to our fifth location on McDonald & Granite Reef in Scottsdale. 53 years now going strong - "If we don't have it, we will get it for you!

I would have said these guys are fantastic and two thumbs up, but yesterday the service was about the worst you could expect to ever recieve from anywhere. Walked into the store and waved at one of the employees for help. I have always recieved excellent service from all of the other employees. I walked up to the employee and ask if he knowes where I could find a Gas line, the yellow flex kind used to hook up a stove. He laughed and said what did you say? I repeated myself. He laughed. I repeated myself 3 more times, asking where I could find them. Still lauching he said do you want yellow teflon tape. I told him I did not find it funny to ask that many times and have someone laugh at me. While he was still laughing he said he was not laughing at me, "But would not stop laughing" Do yourself a favor and ask for help from anyone but the black guy. Better yet go to Home Depot.

We have a home decor area, "robin's nest," the likes of which you won't find in an ordinary hardware store. Our female customers think of us as their home accessory store, and the men think its heaven at gift giving time. We take personal pride in the members of our store. Whether they have had a career of success or are in school on their way to a career, we think we have a special group. We strive to hire people who enjoy helping others. Neighbors come to us to fix problems which have no ready remedy. Our staff provides solutions because of their experience and their ability to listen and think outside the box.
