Description: If you’re a “gear head,” you’ll feel like a kid in a candy store at this showplace of American custom and vintage performance cars. Open since 1996, the museum houses a collection of 90-plus “muscle cars” and occupies a massive 35,750 square feet of floor space. Most of the vehicles on display belong to Floyd Garrett, and each has been reconditioned to virtual perfection. Automotive fans have enjoyed up-close inspections of cars like NASCAR star Richard Petty’s 1977 STP Monte Carlo as well as speedsters driven by racers Bobby Allison and Dale Earnhardt. You’ll also see specialty cars like a 1940 Ford Coupe that was confiscated for running moonshine. The collection is always evolving, so the lineup of cars may change from visit to visit. Visitors can also view walls lined with racing memorabilia, check out a display of rare racing engines, and browse the gift shop, which is stocked full of souvenirs for the NASCAR junkie. Admission is $8.95 for adults and $3.00 for children ages 8 through 12; children younger than 8 are admitted free.
