If you are shy about trying this quintessentially Strand dance, just drop in to watch—with a cold drink and classic shag tunes, the experience makes for a relaxing end to any day. Hall of Famers William Greene and Mandy Holt offer professional shag lessons on Wed at 6 p.m. And if you are serious about learning more, Ducks can help arrange regular lessons.If a shag-inspired special event is being held during the year, odds are good Ducks will be involved. Currently, popular events hosted here include the Dewey Kennedy Mixed Doubles Contest, a popular New Year’s Eve Party, “Keepers of the Dance” shag contest, Junior SOS (Society of Shaggers) Contest, the CSA Shag contest, and the Pug Wallace Intergalactic Award.During summer Ducks is open Wed through Sun. On Sat and Sun, they actually open their doors at 11 a.m. and don’t close until 2 a.m. In the slower winter months, you will still find them open Thurs through Sat.
