Description: The newest member of the Georgetown Hospital Family opened its doors in late 2002. Waccamaw Community Hospital, a 40-bed inpatient facility, accommodates the needs of a growing population in northern Georgetown County and southern Horry County. The three-story building is composed of nearly 187,000 square feet of interior space. Twenty-four-hour emergency services, obstetrics, inpatient and outpatient surgery, and medical/surgical units are offered at the new hospital. In addition, a 29-bed acute-care rehabilitation facility is located on the same site. It is designed to serve as a short-term, interim step for patients who have been discharged from an inpatient facility. Rehabilitation therapy services, including physical, occupational, and speech therapy, are available to acute rehab inpatients.
