Description: Beside the Hampton Inn on Daniel Island is this unique steak and seafood restaurant that’s a cross between a pirate museum and an upscale eatery. Don’t mistake this for a theme restaurant; this is all about fine food. But the setting just happens to be the home of a rare and fascinating collection of art and artifacts reflecting the golden age of piracy—once very much a part of the Charleston scene. Among the armor, rapiers, and blunderbusses handsomely displayed, the food is served fresh with flair and style. The pan-roasted mussels in garlic white wine sauce are as good as any from Chesapeake Bay. The barbecue ribs fall off the bone, and the steaks are equally well prepared. Of course, a full array of fresh seafood entrees is offered nightly. Because the atmosphere is so interesting, this is a good choice for family dining, and a children’s menu is available. It’s open for lunch and dinner 7 days a week. Grown-ups will enjoy the roomy bar, where life-size pirates Stede Bonnet and Blackbeard sit and plot their next raid on hapless Charlestonians.
