Description: At the corner of Guadalupe Street and Paseo de Peralta, De Vargas Center is Santa Fe’s oldest and most attractive mall. Relatively small at 246,000 square feet and easy to negotiate, at this mall you’ll find a post office, movie theaters, a pizza joint, a candy shop, restaurants, antiques stores, pharmacies, shoe stores, jewelry stores, and women’s clothing boutiques.Las Cosas Kitchen Shoppe offers top-of-the-line, restaurant-quality cookware and popular cooking classes with Santa Fe chef Jon Vollertson. Opposite, you’ll find Santa Fe Beeswax Candle Company, featuring lovely locally made beeswax candles in all shapes and sizes and Buddhist and Hindu paraphernalia, from tankas to statues of Quan Yin. Radio Shack, Ross Dress for Less, and Christine’s bridal and tuxedo shop are in the center of the mall, along with CVS Pharmacy. You can shop for jewelry at Zales or Chavez Fine Jewelers. Gameco offers a place for people, mostly teens, to play “Magic” and other games and to buy game cards and supplies. Hastings has a wide selection of music, magazines, books, and videos, and a coffee bar. Sunflower Market, a discount natural food market, opened in the mall in the summer of 2009. For a sweet treat, head to Starbucks or Baskin Robbins 31 Flavors ice-cream and yogurt store. On the north end of the mall, you’ll find Albertson’s supermarket, Java Joe’s coffeehouse, and Jinja, one of Santa Fe’s most popular new Asian restaurants.
