Description: Just west of Charlotte in Mount Holly, enjoy paddling on the calm waters of the Catawba River as it slowly flows into Lake Wylie. North Carolina Flatwater Outfitters rents one-person and two-person kayaks, as well as canoes. Rates are $10 per hour or $40 for six hours in the single-person kayaks, and $15 per hour or $50 for six hours in the two-person kayaks and canoes. Excursions depart from the Tailrace Marina, directly across the Catawba River from the U.S. National Whitewater Center. Hours are 2 p.m. to sunset Wed through Fri, and 9 a.m. to sunset on weekends.
