Description: A bowling alley? Well, yes, but the Bryant-Lake Bowl in Uptown breaks every stereotype of bowling-alley eats. The inside of the restaurant is vintage 1940s, with beautiful woodwork and closely placed tables for intimate eating. Famous for its delicious breakfasts, including bison hash, several BLB scrambles (eggs scrambled with a choice of ingredients), and Amy’s Breakfast Burrito, the BLB serves lunch and dinner as well. Diners favor such specialties as the turkey, avocado, and bacon sandwich; grilled ahi tuna sandwich; and basmati rice and vegetables (with tofu or chicken optional). The BLB has a full bar, with many microbrews on tap. In addition to the 1950s-era bowling lanes, where you get to relearn the lost art of scoring your game by hand, the BLB is attached to a cabaret theater, where you can also order from the full menu. (See the Arts chapter for more information on the Bryant-Lake Bowl Theater.) The Bryant-Lake Bowl is open 8 a.m. to 2 a.m. daily.
