Description: The focus at Minneapolis Community and Technical College (MCTC) is on creating an environment where recent high school graduates, working adults, and continuing education students are comfortable and excel together in various educational fields. The college has 12,000 students with an average age of 29. Diversity is a major commitment at MCTC. As the state’s most ethnically diverse school of higher education, MCTC has an important mission: providing a quality education to students who speak more than 80 languages and dialects. In part this is accomplished by the English as a Second Language program, which serves these frequently skilled students, who may need to improve their English language proficiency. MCTC offers programs that lead students into successful careers. A few of the most popular programs are liberal arts disciplines, law enforcement, nursing, and computer support. Associate in arts (AA) and Associate in science (AS) degrees are popular at MCTC, as are technical certificate programs.
