Description: Located 20 minutes from downtown Indianapolis, Boone County covers 423 square miles with a population of 55,027. One of the largest towns in Boone County, Zionsville has a population of about 13,000 and covers 25 square miles. But all that will change in Jan 2010, when Zionsville will increase to 52 square miles and boost its population thanks to a reorganization plan adopted by Zionsville and two surrounding townships. The plan will increase the opportunity for new business development. One of the few towns in the United States that has preserved its brick main street, Zionsville draws visitors with more than 50 shops, plus restaurants and cafes. Surrounding the village is a mosaic of preserved historic homes, many dating back to the 19th century. The city is known for its peaceful, tree-lined streets, parks system, and nature center.
