Description: Indiana’s largest area agency on aging, CICOA is the central clearinghouse for information and access to Indiana’s agencies on aging. CICOA serves Boone, Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks, Johnson, Marion, Morgan, and Shelby Counties, where more than 20 percent of Indiana’s population lives. Established in 1974 by an amendment to the 1965 Older Americans Act, CICOA and its network of 300 for-profit and not-for-profit providers offer a wealth of services for older adults and people with disabilities. The organization’s network of services includes adult day care, in-home care, delivering hot meals, modifying homes to meet homeowners’ special needs, care-management services, home visits, neighborhood meal sites, providing caregivers with respite or supplemental services, equipping people with personal emergency-response systems, providing transportation, legal services, and being advocates on senior issues.
