Description: The Bulldog men’s and women’s basketball teams each have won Southeastern Conference championships and advanced to the Final Four of their respective NCAA tournaments. The men’s team has a 90-year-plus history playing basketball, but has enjoyed success mostly since 1983, when it made its first appearance in the NCAA tournament and went to the Final Four, including victories over national powerhouses North Carolina and St. John’s. Only one player, All-America Dominique Wilkins, has had his number (21) retired. The Lady Bulldogs have been one of the nation’s most respected women’s teams, with three trips to the Final Four in five years and six SEC championships under head coach Andy Landers. The teams play their home games in Stegman Coliseum on the UGA campus in Athens. For information on tickets, call the University of Georgia Athletic Association ticket office, (706) 542-1231, or toll-free, (877) 542-1231. In addition to national and regional television coverage, games are carried on WSB-AM (750).
