Description: A number of other colleges also play intercollegiate football. While the players often don’t have top-dollar athletic scholarships and their teams are not competing for the big-time national championships, the games are exciting, the stadiums more intimate, and the love of the game evident in everyone on the field and in the stands. Three of the Atlanta University Center schools—Morris Brown, Clark Atlanta, and Morehouse—compete in the NCAA’s Division II in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC). Although they are part of the same university system and historically African-American in enrollment and philosophy, they are nonetheless rivals. For the 2000 season, however, Morris Brown College moved up to Division I-AA and joined the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) along with universities such as Grambling, Southern, and Jackson State. All three teams play their home games in B. T. Harvey Stadium on the AU Center campus. Some of the games are broadcast on WCLK-FM (91.9).
