Part of Emory Healthcare, the 583-bed hospital offers a 24-hour emergency department, more than 600 board-certified or board-eligible physicians on staff, and more than 2,000 employees. Situated off the I-75/85 Downtown Connector (exit 100), Crawford Long provides easy access for those in the central business district and Atlanta’s Downtown convention and tourism zone. Crawford Long offers a wide spectrum of services: pulmonary medicine, thoracic and cardiovascular surgery, gastrointestinal medicine, gynecology and obstetrics, oncology, international travel medicine, plastic and reconstructive surgery, and neonatology. Additional services include outpatient surgery and radiology, family-centered maternity care, a menopause center, and in-vitro fertilization. The hospital’s nationally recognized Carlyle Fraser Heart Center, now part of the Emory Heart Center, is dedicated to the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of heart and lung disorders. It also has a Level III neonatal intensive care unit and a two-chamber hyperbaric oxygen unit. Crawford Long was one of the first facilities in Georgia to have a cancer program approved by the American College of Surgeons. The hospital pioneered a treatment for prostate cancer called cryosurgery, which offers a shorter recovery period than traditional methods. Volunteer international interpreters, who together speak more than 25 languages, assist patients and physicians. Crawford Long also provides speakers to business and civic organizations and offers many wellness, health information, and screening programs.
