Gunbarrel - Relocation - Boulder, Colorado

City: Boulder, CO
Category: Relocation
Address: 7 miles from Boulder

Description: Great mountain views and fancy homes around a golf course/country club are hallmarks of this large neighborhood of subdivisions. It was first developed in 1963 as a 558-acre subdivision to house the employees of a huge IBM plant across the Diagonal Highway. With Big Blue cutting back on its staff and other high-tech firms moving into the area, Gunbarrel has developed into a more varied community. The commercial part of Gunbarrel, which includes Celestial Seasonings, IBM, Leanin’ Tree, and a small shopping center, is part of the city of Boulder. Much of the residential area is in unincorporated Boulder County. Even though the city of Boulder twice has offered to annex the neighborhood, residents prefer the autonomy of being in the county.Take the Diagonal Highway (Highway 119) north toward Longmont. Just out of Boulder, turn right onto Jay Road. Keep going. To see the fancy houses, turn left on a street such as Carter Road. To get deeper into Gunbarrel, continue on the Diagonal to 63rd Street and turn right (south). The homes and enterprises of Gunbarrel are both to your right and left. The Boulder Country Club, with a golf course backing up against the yards of dozens of homes, is in the heart of Gunbarrel Greens, south off of Lookout Road. Sorry, members only.
