We now have Harris Teeter, Trader Joes, and soon a Publix coming to Asheville. Let's go for broke and get in touch with COSTCO about their joining the rush Just emailed them.

I am sure Asheville is on Costco's radar. Tunnel Road, Brevard Road or the airport are likely possible locations.

Ya' know, not too long ago there were several posts on here about folks moving in and wanting everything to be the way it was where they were from. Are they wanting to take over the mountains again? Just driving down that road into Target and Lowe's on Rt. 280 and seeing those beautiful mountains in the background .... well, I understand no one wants to live near an airport, but enuf is enuf. OK pounce all over my post now ... have at it.

I don't like these big box stores coming to Asheville. That's what sets Asheville apart from other towns.

In many ways I actually agree so as much as I want the convience........... I rarely go south so guess I don't get hit in the face with the ugliness. What about location like Biltmore Square Mall, already there but realize that makes too much sense. I wasn't thinking make it like it was where I came from as we lived in small crossroads community farther out than I am now.

I'd prefer if they just replaced the Sam's Club with Costco.

Hardly many people in Sam's the last few times I've ventured in.. Too many big box stores around already. I'd rather take a nice drive to Greenville if I need something thaaaat bad, and think more about our environment, and the resulting traffic.

Remember this old song: "Got along without 'ya before I met 'ya, gonna' get along without ya' now".

you can't compare costco to sams club. but you can substitute sams club with costco .

I got a free membership but only have been there once. I don't shop at walmart overall. And I did not like the shopping experience there at sams at all. not was they offered, not the crowd ... nothing compared to costco.
also .. don't think they pay their people better than Walmart does.

I don't think all those supermarket that invaded us and will invade will survive. I am hoping for trader joe's though and of course earth fare.
and aldi, of course

Whole Foods is redoing the old K Mart location a definite improvement and that reuse should be done more often, maybe required. No need to gobble up more land. Biggest problem with big box is they are really ugly, too much asphalt and then later abandoned. COSTCO is a good place to shop and their prescriptions cost is less than most, just take over an existing space.
