Just wanted to know as we will be new to the area soon. Has anyone had any difficulties finding Kosher foods in the Vancouver area? Does anyone know of any Kosher markets nearby or specific stores? We saw some stores on line but read an article that one store may close soon. Thanks in advance for any advice and suggestions.

The only mention of a Kosher business I can find is a mystical lysting for Commodities Plus, which has an address on a warehouse in the middle of nowhere, outside town.

You'd probably have to drive to Portland.

Daad - Vancouver as LARGE health food stores and Kosher foods can many times be found there. For a VERY extensive selection, however, you will indeed need to drive to Portland. But just remember, depending on where in Vancouver you are, that could be a 10-15 minute trip across the Columbia River!

Vancouver has Wild Oats...
One of the best health food stores around next to Whole Foods...
Sadly, Tacoma area doesn't have one of these stores or the
Tri-Cities. Trader Joes is also good, but a step below WO & WF.

Wild Oats was bought by Whole Foods and stores are in the process of being transitioned over.

Most of the larger grocery stores in the area have a small kosher section. I know of a meat processor on MLK in North Portland that advertises kosher and halal meats.

A local synagogue put up this list, but I think it's Beaverton-specific.

Thanks to all who responded. Yes, it will probably be best to cruise to Portland. Thanks to PNW-type-gal for the link.

Thumbs up Kosher Food in Vancouver

Hi,

For future reference you can always check for kosher restaurants throughout the USA and Canada at LocateKosher.com (Locate Kosher | The Kosher Locator).

Another good idea - if you're looking to where the locals find/buy their Kosher foods, call a local synagogue. They will be most glad to give you some help.
