I love this...

...and yes Im aware the average American driver is nowhere near experienced enough to handle this... still ... I would kill for this...

Although I have to admit I find it odd that they consider I-45 and not I-10 or I-20 out west.

As dangerous as it is at I-45 and Hardy toll road (South of The Woodlands)
I wonder what is going to be like without speed limit

Hard to say, many ways to view it.

Some say that speeding actually makes drivers more attentative and aware of their surroundings and less likely to experience drivers fatigue, infact I remember reading an article explaining that Montana actually experienced an increase of car accidents when they imposed speed limits on their highways because people that were confined to them were more often engaging in distracted driving or falling asleep behind the wheel.

Others say that speeding increasing the likelihood of automobile accidents and fatalities ... and most drivers will still engage in distractions while behind the wheel, likewise most drivers don't have the experience to handle an automobile at high speeds... and then you also have the other issue... ...variable speeds... some clown in the far left lane doing 65 MPH and you're prowing up to them at 140 MPH

I've read that even on the German Autobahn that not everyone out there is racing down the highway in the no speed limit zones and its mainly restricted to the far left lane where as the center and right lane are for cars more casually cruising, or semi-trucks that are going much slower than traffic going 100+ MPH.. ..and that you are constantly speeding up, slowing down when trying to drive at triple digit speeds, likewise analyzing and predicting other drivers actions long before you approach them as you don't get much time to react at those speeds. Then there's the issue where you need the left lane to casually pass someone in the center lane but you have to look MUCH further back because cars in the far left lane catch up to you very quickly if you're only doing 70 - 80 MPH.

PERSONALLY... ...I could comfortably drive on most Texas freeways between 90 and 120 MPH but obviously I'm not going to try that.. ..but it wouldn't phase me to do it if it were legal..

The issue is not speed
the issue is for people to learn to drive slow on the right lane and fast on the left lane

Every time I drive on Houston's highways I see a person doing the speed limit on the left lane with 1000 cars behind it
and one person zig-zagging on the right lane try to pass everybody

That one person zig zagging in the right lane to pass that left lane camper was probably me...
