I will be moving to CA as a rep for my company and need to be located around the Sac area, as the majority of my dealers are located around there.

A colleague recommended Lodi, which is south of Sac. Anyone have any knowledge of that area?

I am looking to rent, hopefully a townhouse type place.

Any other suggestions?

Hi,
If you are driving into Sac everyday, you are looking at the very least an hour commute. Lodi has some decent areas, however, it rates a 0 quality of life in Sperlings Best Places. That may or may not matter to you. There are other areas that may suit you better. Give a little more info and I may be able to help more.
Jen

I won't necessarily be going into Sac every day. I mainly want to be based around the Sac area because the majority of my account will be located around 2 hours north or south from Sac.

I have been told about half a dozen times already by co-workers to look at northern Folsom also, any thoughts on that area?

Just about a year ago
I set out on the road
Seekin' my fame and fortune
And lookin' for a pot of gold
Things got bad, and things got worse
I guess you know the tune
Oh, Lord, stuck in Lodi again

I guess not much has changed.

Lodi is known to be wine country. It is very quant. I live in Stockton, which is the next city south of Lodi. If you're looking for something down to earth, Lodi is it. I have nothing bad to say of it. If you're used to a big city though, Sacramento (Natomas area) is very nice.

I'm very familiar with Lodi. It's 40 minutes from downtown Sacramento - probably closer to an hour with commute traffic. It's a quaint and wonderful SMALL town, so it depends upon what kind of life style you're looking for. If you're single, I wouldn't recommend it. If you're married or family-minded, then it's got some fantastic areas.

Regarding Folsom - another great area to live - also focused more on family living. I would recommend without hesitation unless you're single and looking to meet people, in which case, you need to be in the mid-town area of Sacramento (my opinion). Another thing to think about is that the commute from Folsom to Sacramento can be upwards of 45 minutes to an hour during commute times. It's about 20 minutes without traffic.

Hope this helps!

My friend is moving for new job and is renting an apartment at Meritage in Lodi. Know anything about it?

If you have to travel north of Sacramento, Lodi is going to be very inconvenient.

If you don't want to live in Sac, look into Fair Oaks. It's a nice area, more centrally located, and closer to Sac activities.
