Ever since I was a kid I thought it would be cool to own land in all 50 states. I don't even mean homes, just what ever is available even if it is non usable. Recently I read in another thread about homes in Ohio selling for $10,000 or $15,000 and fixers may even be less. In Detroit you can buy homes for even less. My thoughts would be what are the tax consequences? Do the cities tax these low price places at higher prices? I don't want to live in these places and would be happy owning a small lot. I one time read about a small lot in New York that no one wanted because you could not build on it. Someone finally bought it and put a billboard on it to advertise their business. In places like Arizona you can find small lots for very little money.
1. Anyone else ever thought about doing this?
2. Any problems with pulling something off like this?
3. Is it possible for a regular guy to do this over time?
Maybe you should just collect a jar of dirt from each State and that way you could say that you owned property from every one ? A lot cheaper for sure !
Why limit yourself? You can buy a Deed to property on the Moon...and I'm sure someone must be selling Deeds for property on Mars as well by now! The great advantage: you'll have no taxes or other liabilities on those "Deeds"!
But if you want to stick to your original plan, I think I can help you out. I own quite a bit of property, and I have great connections in those states where I don't own land. For a price, I can get you honest-to-goodness Quit Claim Deeds to property in every single state. Name your price and we'll see if we can do business.
