"Rep. Michele Bachmann has been a fierce critic of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, blaming the government-backed loan programs for excesses that helped create the financial meltdown in 2008.
Just a few weeks before Bachmann called for dismantling the programs during a House Financial Services Committee hearing, she and her husband signed for a $417,000 home loan to help finance their move to a 5,200-square-foot golf-course home, public records show. Experts who examined the loan documents for The Washington Post say that they are confident the loan was backed by Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac."
Got to take advantage of it before it's no longer available.
Spin away apologists. Your tea party queen loves Socialist government programs.
Guess her hypocrisy is so well known no one is surprised.....she and her puppet master/owner husband are the worst leeches ....people who take from the government when they don't even need to.
Yep, this conservative takes advantage of any free money coming his way. NSF funding (thank you taxpayers!), food stamps, unemployment insurance, etc.
If someone drops money and says it's for you, do you walk away or do you take it? One can take it and still suggest to the person to stop doing such a stupid thing.
This is a non-story. ALL HOMES that fall under certain loan criteria are PURCHASED by Fannie/Freddie from the orginal lender. Everyone should READ their loan docs. There is a paragraph that says (parapharased) "90% of loans are subject to being sold to third-party".
You don't choose Freddie/Fannie. They buy the loans they want based on risk.
