Is this the South Jersey/Philly Accent?

I have been told to listen to Chris Matthews. I am hearing the similarities between Chris Matthews, and Tony DeAngelo. I put this in this forum because DeAngelo is a South Jersey native.

I mean I don't hear any accent at all.

But I'm from South Jersey... so since I don't hear anything I guess yes?

As for Philly Accent, it depends on how far out you consider "Philly" as there is a noticeable difference from the furthest northern tip and the lowest southern end. Google "Delco accent" and you'll see what I mean.

LOL this is hilarious. I also learned that Mare of Easttown is supposed to be based on that place

I grew up in Monmouth but went to Rutgers-Camden and then lived in South Philly for 10 years. This dude has a pretty tame accent wherever he's from. Basically, unless both of your parents have the accent, you're not going to have an obvious Mid Atlantic accent.

As others have said, it's not uniform, kind of like how a Bronx and Brooklyn accent aren't exactly the same. People from Roxborough don't sound like people from South Philly. People from Camden County don't sound exactly like people from DelCo.
