Coming down for the month of January and want to play some golf on less expensive courses and a few top end tracks. Staying in NMB so NC courses are within reach. Any suggestions?
Top tier courses include True Blue and Caledonia in Pawley's Island, TPC in Murrell's Inlet, Grande Dunes in MB and Barefoot Landing in NMB. Although January is off season they will still be pricy.
Less expensive courses that you might enjoy are International Club in Murrell's Inlet, Whispering Pines and Myrtlewood in MB and River Hills and Eagle's Nest in NMB.
If you want to work on your short game Aero Club in MB and Harbour View in NMB are family friendly Par 3 courses.
Quite a few courses have recently made major renovations, so when reading online reviews make sure you read the most recent ones.
There are over 80 courses along the Grand Strand - enjoy
If you're staying for the whole month and plan on playing a lot of golf, look into the Myrtle Beach Golf Passport snowbird membership. You get discounted rates at 50+ courses.
Premium courses close to NMB - Tidewater, any of the 4 Barefoot courses, Grande Dunes. Caledonia and True Blue are fantastic, but a long ride from where you're staying. TPC is not as far, but still a decent drive.
Across the NC border, I think Thistle is a great underrated course. Tiger's Eye and Leopard's Chase are a little further north, and are both solid tracks. River's Edge is even further north, but worth the ride.
Less expensive but still nice, Long Bay is one of my favorites. River Hills, Crow Creek, Oyster Bay are also nice, not to hard on the wallet, and not far from NMB
Myrtle Beach is relatively inexpensive for golf so even the best courses are reasonably priced. In no order:
Dunes
Barefoot Courses
TPC
Caladonia
Tidewater
True Blue
