I get lost sometimes just jumping around on YouTube finding interesting songs and artists. It's a great way to spend some time.
So everyone once and a while i happen upon a performer that I've never seen or heard of before (that isn't all that unusual as I don't normally get that in to who is doing the song). But it's a bit of a AH HA when it happens.
I thought it might be interesting and informative if ya'll might post who you've 'discovered accidently either through YouTube or some other roving talent so we can enjoy these people too.
I have several I can throw out if this thread gets any traction but I'll start with one I found just the other day. It will be in its own post coming up next.
I'm in a Ukulele band and I'm always looking for interesting songs that we can play (not everyone is highly experienced). Although this isn't ukulele appropriate I kind of fell in 'love' with the song and her. So reading the comments there was mention of her passing 2 years ago so I did some further research and found this was likely recorded in 1985 and was covered by others - on the country charts. Such a great talent. She had a pretty good career.
Some time back I came across Dan Vasc (metal covers) and Geoff Castellucci (Low bass cover)
Just for the heck of it I typed in Dan Vasc as I recently discovered him on YouTube and here you are!
He's definitely enjoyable and fun, but I'm especially thankful I discovered Nightwish because of him as he has covered some of their songs! They're a symphonic metal band from Finland who's been around for decades and very popular in Europe and South America, but I had never heard of them. Nice compositions featuring female leads, the first one being an operatic singer.
BTW, Dan Vasc went viral with a metal cover of Amazing Grace and he just now released "My Heart Will Go On" and I guarantee you've never heard this version before, lol! He's really a good singer AND a lot of fun!

Speaking of Nightwish, here's a performance from 2012 featuring their latest lead singer and it's one of the most "reacted" to performances on YouTube. Beyond EPIC!!
