There are some suggestions in random news about who might play Elvis in the upcoming biopic. Leo Decaprio was really the only one I found remotely attractive enough to pull it off out of the other seven - who are essentially unknowns in the article on google. At first glance, I don't see anyone similar.
Can you think of anyone who might be better for this role? I was quite young when Elvis died and never really appreciated his talents and handsomeness until just recently really. I do hope they find someone with those smooth southern features, that unique charm, and intense passion for music.
All I've seen about this project is that they want Tom Hanks to play the Colonel, no speculation as to who would play Elvis. If you have a link please share it.
DiCaprio was supposed to star in and produce (with Mick Jagger) a biopic about Sun Records' founder Sam Phillips, but I haven't heard anything about that in a couple of years, and haven't heard his name connected to the Elvis project at all.
I've longed to see a truly good biopic of Elvis made for years. There's so much ground to cover it would be hard to do it justice in the constraints of a ~2 hour feature film. It seems like you'd almost have to focus on just one phase of his career to do it justice.
DiCaprio would be and interesting choice. Russell was great in the 1979 TV movie but I don't think he'd pull it off today at 68.
Austin Butler is playing Elvis. I don't know him, but he has a filmography dating back to 2007. Hanks is playing Col. Parker, as noted above. IMDb says it is "expected" June 24, 2022. I'm not huge on Elvis, but Hanks is enough of a draw for me to watch.
It looks intriguing (despite not being big on Elvis myself either), and I'll probably see it. But it worries me that it's a Baz Luhrmann film. I've only seen a few of his movies, but I've not been impressed by them. Can't stand the herky jerky style of Moulin Rouge, so hopefully he directs this one a little more straight.

Ditto.
I like Elvis, and this looks very promising, but I have never seen a Luhrmann movie I liked. Not one. I would describe most Luhrmann movies as "Siegfried and Roy without the tigers."

While I don't disagree, Elvis Presley's life pretty much WAS Siegfried and Roy without the tigers so maybe it will work here.
