Hello to all. I read on the Miami Dade Public Transport website that Metrobus/Metrorail tokens are available for 19$ 50 cents for a roll of 10 tokens. Is there a limit on the number of tokens we can buy?? I will be needing 40 tokens (20X2) , so will I be able to buy all of them in one go or will I be able to buy only a max of 10 tokens?

Also is there any other place I can buy the tokens from besides the Government Center Metrorail Station? And what exactly are these 'Change Machines' ? It was mentioned on the website that we can buy the tokens from these machines too after putting a 20$ bill. But are we supposed to use only a 20$ bill or other bills accepted too?? And what about credit cards? Does the machine accept them too?

I am not a US citizen. Thats the reason why I have these 'silly' doubts. Hope somebody can clear them up for me.

Thanks a lot in advance.

Here is the link for the tokens outlets: Miami-Dade County - Transit (http://www.miamidade.gov/transit/passtokens_outlet.asp - broken link)

You should be able to purchase what you need, without a problem...

Your worries are not silly. The system Miami Dade transit has is unnecessarily complicated.

I take the train every day, so here is your answer:

One ride is $2. You can pay with $1 coins or with 1 token, which is worth $2.
Every train station has access to change machines. These machines will give you $1 coins (fully viable US currency) or metro tokens (for use on trains or buses), depending on how much money you put in the machines.

$1 bill will give you a $1 coin
$5 bill = 4 $1 coins and 4 quarters ($.25)
$10 bill = 5 metro tokens
$20 bill = 10 metro tokens and 2 quarters ($.25)

Like I said, it seems more complicated than it really is. Token and change machines are available at every station, so don't worry about going to a remote location to acquire them.
