I guess this is what 30 planes an hour does to you. Winds are NW, so whats up with all these jets whining over Westbury?
I'd like to hear from Azzuro if he's getting pounded too.
We got pounded in Garden City the other day too. It's actually been fairly quiet over the winter months as we all expected. But, there are still some bad days with lots of flights.
I think you'll see a fairly quiet period from now until the Spring, and then you'll get pounded again.
I'm working with a guy from Floral Park to see if News 12 will do a story on this. They actually contacted him first, so it's a good sign. The problem is that I think they'll have to wait until the summer months. I really want them to film this when it's really bad (ie. when everyone wants to be outside).
I've given up on the FAA and politicians. They do nothing. It's time to bring this out to the media because that's the only time these gov bureaucrats actually act and try to do something.
It's starting to be bother me too, a little bit.
It's in the slightly annoying stage right now for me.
Sometimes it sounds like they are so low they are going to scuff the roof.
Real loud and rumbling.
I've noticed it more and more over the past few years.
I find myself routinely turning up the volume on the TV for a minute, and then back down when they've passed.
They aren't flying lower than they were in the past, and the route to 22L is still the same.
The difference is that there are many many MORE of them over LI now. It's the volume of flights that is the problem. More and more of them are pushed over LI. In the past, you might not have noticed because the volume was acceptable.
Now, with JFK doing the domestic flights, including Jet Blue, we are taking more and more of the air noise and pollution.
Again tonight, NW winds 16 gusting to 27 @ JFK and they are using the 22L Belmont Approach. Safety is obviously not a priority because they are landing with heavy crosswinds.
