My wife has been looking in Pt. Jefferson Station and Holtsville. How are these areas? How is the Sachem School District? What should I look out for overall?

Assuming you're on a budget, I'd go with Sachem of the two.
I'm not a fan of large districts, but Sachem's a quality district with less drama.

If you're looking for a good value play near PJS w/quality smaller schools, there's a section of Sound Beach that goes to Miller Place right off 63. Theres also a section of PJS that goes to Mt Sinai nearby as well.

Good luck

Nothing really - kind of an "inside joke" among some of the posters here on C-D Depends on what you're looking for in housing.
Schools are actually considered pretty good (including Special Ed)!
