The former principal of James H. Vernon School, whose teaching certificate was suspended for four years for engaging in what officials called an inappropriate relationship with a student, was charged Monday in Nassau County District Court with falsifying employment applications submitted to the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Central School District.

Jessica Bader, 52, falsely answered “no” on applications that asked if she had ever resigned from a position as an alternative to charges or termination, according to Nassau County District Attorney Anne Donnelly.

Newsday includes the original disciplinary findings. The hearing officer who originally suspended her license for four years refrained from terminating her license because he believed she had the potential to be a good school administrator. While it is traditional for failing teachers to slide over into the administrative ranks (and remain in the teachers retirement system), this seems a curious notion given the particular circumstances.

It’s very long and includes an imbedded transcript. Difficult to cut and paste from my cell. It was in the hard copy two days ago. I posted the first two paragraphs (italics).
