Wow, I was in London in late May and it was one busy town! Glad to see a place growing in these tough economic times.

Did you see me? The largest construction project in London's history is the new hospital. A new road had to be built to get to it.

Great pics. You should get some pics of downtown, especially after the beautification project.

Thanks, I would love to get some pics after the streetscape is completed.

Oh the first pic was taken by The Sentinel-Echo, not me.

Actually it's simply an addition to the current campus. There's another building next door that was built a few years ago. It's Somerset Community College (London Campus), but I have a feeling it will be renamed in the future. Enrollment at the London campus has went way way up over the past 10 years. The area is known as "College Park" and also home to the new Laurel County Public Library that opened a few years ago as well.

Growth is due to the fact that this area has more jobs than surrounding counties. Also, most of the growth is coming from Eastern KY and Ohio. Those seem to be the 2 areas where most people are coming from lately.

Late last year a large factory opened called Truitt Brothers. They make microwaveable meals and it already employs over 200 people and there's plans to hire more, unless the economy has changed that. The other large employers are Wal-Mart Distribution Center, ACS, Aisin Automotive and St. Joseph Hospital to name a few.

The area has a JC Penney, Belk and London has a new, small department store called Peebles that opened last year. Also, the areas first Starbucks opened last year and has been successful.
