Lanyu, Taiwan Tested 95.2 m/s Gusts in Typhoon Koinu's eyewall (recorded, cyclone)

On 22:00 Oct. 3 2023, Lanyu station(elevation 342m) just recorded a max wind of 95.2 m/s before the eye of typhoon Koinu passing through this island, it's the Top 3 in global gusts record!!, also the champion in Asia's history.
Yet, there had a 100.7 m/s not-recognized record on same station. So amazing!!

That's about 212mph. At a weather station on Orchid Island just off the SE Taiwan coast where eye of typhoon was passing. Hill top right near the coast.


Winds in cyclones are stronger higher off the ground, and that one is close to the water front. Actually hard to get measurements at those speeds...most equipment isn't rated to capture that reliably.
