Anyone have any info. on a Photo Club in and around the Simpsonville/Greenville area? I am looking for a place that would teach/tutor you in using the digital editing technique's and such. "Photoshop" comes to mind. Thanks.
I know of a couple of photo clubs that are part of senior groups. Haven't been to one of them yet, but the other is through Senior Action of Greenville. You need to be 55 or over to participate. That club only meets for an hour once a month and, to my knowledge, does not teach digital editing. I believe Greenville Tech has some classes in that area, though.
I used Photoshop Elements myself and could teach you some basics to get you started, but I'm still learning myself and haven't mastered all that much. I can tell you that it makes a big difference in how my photos look. Most digital photos benefit from some tweaking, and it's great that some not-so-hot shots can be salvaged. As you probably know, though, it's still best to try to take the best photo you're capable of the first time around. Feel free to DM me if I can be of further assistance.
Photo School of the Upstate has a Photoshop class. I took a basic photography class there. The instructor was nice and I learned a couple of things, but don't expect a very fancy place. Photo School of the Upstate Greenville South Carolina
I’ve just heard from the staff member (Linda) at Hollywild Animal Park who is in charge of this event, that there is space available for next Saturday’s Photography Day where the park’s new tiger cub, Kashmir, will be featured. If you received the earlier event information, this is a change. Kashmir will be the spotlight animal for both the Sept. and Oct. dates. Preregistration is required. The forms are online at Welcome to Hollywild Animal Park! . Please pass along this info as Linda can probably squeeze a few people in if they call the office (864) 472-2038 to pre-register by Wednesday or Thursday. The photographer leading the workshop is Alexander Hicks, Jr. He teaches at a local community college, works for a local newspaper as a photographer, and traveled the world photographing before settling in the Upstate.
