Yeah, the old testament, full of wonderful stories.

Canaanites were antisemites I suppose.
That's probably why they deserved to have town after town razed and burned to the ground and the whole population exterminated down to the babies. Canaanites were such antisemites deserving of extermination that, according to the old testament, when the hebrews refused to exterminate some of them and *merely* enslaved them, god was not happy about such mercy shown on vicious antisemites.

Of course our local baptists, calvinists and other old testament lovers will tell us that the canaanites just deserved it. Yeah, I guess they deserved it.

PS: I'm aware that a lot of the old testament is fictional. Still, those stories were thought to be good, moral stories worthy of inclusion in the Torah.

Before Israel, "modern day" Jews were essentially gypsies. Nomadic outsiders.

In most societies, they were prohibited from engaging in certain work industries. This forced them to work in other industries. Over time they excelled and dominated these industries: In heavy labor societies they dominated "white collar" jobs. This created resentment for the native people during difficult economic times

"Why did Christians hate Jews so much before and during the Holocaust?"

Stereotyping can be fun, but the truth is that many Christians both before and after the Holocaust hated Jews. Additionally, other Christians on both sides of the Holocaust loved Jews. As a matter of fact, many Christians were put to death or imprisoned during the Holocaust for trying to protect Jews. Example: The Hiding Place by Corrie ten Boom.

Christians don't hate Jews because the Bible tells them to do so, but rather, because antisemitism is a universal human trait (according to Aayan Hirsi Ali). ie. Christians hate Jews for the same reason atheists hate Jews.

This is a fallacy. Most Christians particularly American WASPs and those who were even alive around that time believe Jews are God's chosen people, are as pro-Jewish, pro-Israel as anyone even as much as some Jews are. Protestants traditionally read the bible and relate to and internalize the stories and people therein and almost feel as if the characters are their own relatives. To say Christians "hate" Jews is as ridiculous as saying they hate their Lord and the prophets, for goodness sakes lol. The real question should be why do some people who are nominally Christian dislike what they perceive many Jews are doing and saying. I won't get into that because that's not the thread topic.

The average German citizen and average American citizen were not that much different in the era of the depression.
If this kind anti-whiteism/anti-Americanism alone wouldn't be cause enough to dislike Jewish then nothing would. Americans had lived beside divergent people for 300 years before FDR through many hard times and never committed genocide regardless of the erroneous claims about the Indian wars. It should be so self-explanatory it needs no further comment.

Isn't this very close to another current thread about Jews? Why all the interest in Jews all of a sudden? Lent? Passover isn't for 5 - 6 weeks. What gives?

Yes, it's called "begging the question."

Nominal Christians are basically people who have an affinity for Christian cultural stuff, but have no interest in following the morals of Christianity. This is actually a destructive ideology because it can lead to some really bad things. White nationalism (Anders Breivik, alt-right, Nazis, Hitler, etc.) do not believe in God/Jesus, but they like some of the cultural aspects of Christendom and dislike other cultural non-Christian practices. This leads to thinking skin colour and other immutable traits like being a Jew are horrible things, but what you do doesn't matter a whole lot. This is in contrast of religious Christianity which holds that behavior is what matters while skin colour doesn't matter.

Of course, humans are humans with flaws, so every single Christian has some level of bigotry and hypocrisy. That's a good thing because the alternative is to be like the alt-right folks who don't have hypocrisy because they reject Christian ethics they don't like.
