Hey,

My husband & I want to get out Macon due to the crime & lack of jobs. We have 4 kids and want to be in area that is family fun but still affordable (like the income you make in Macon). Also, he would need to be able to find a job within warehouse, forklift, construction type of jobs (quickly). My job is commutable to where ever I go long as I can get wifi.
I have looked into Norcoss, Newnan, Fairburn, Houston County Area, also Baldwin/Grey area. Please if you have any idea, please let me know.

Thank you!

I'm willing to bet my life that no crime has happened to you or anyone you personally know in Macon. Companies like MBM, Geico, Tractor supply and Graphic packaging are always hiring and Blue Bird in Fort Valley hires everyone with clean urine. Besides, Kumho tire need construction workers along with several projects around town. Your post sound like you just want a change; don't fault Macon and the crimes that never happen to you.

Thank you, xDarrylx....but crime have happen. Someone have busted my window in my car to steal the cd player out of it. Also I have seen several children/teenagers in the Village Green area shot by bullets, abandon homes set on fire, and car thief in that neighborhood. So, yes, I have seen crime in Macon. Not everyone see crime in Macon, but I have.

Two of the places you've looked into also have well above average crime rates (Fairburn and Norcross). You currently live in Macon and don't know Grey is spelled Gray or that it's in Jones County not Baldwin? You've also allegedly personally saw several teenagers shot yourself, in that one neighborhood. This makes me wonder about the real intent of your post. I'll bite though. Macon definitely has some problem areas, as over near Village Green and Rocky Creek, but as I've stated before, cities arent homogeneous entities. You've got many different neighborhoods that all differ from one another. You could simply move to a better neighborhood within the city and see a dramatic change in crime levels. It's hard to paint places with a broad brush. For an example, let's not even use all of Macon. Lets use where I'm from alone. The Eastside. You have several different neighborhoods that all differ. You've got a place like Shirley Hills behind Kroger that's majority older white people and safe. When you go in my area near the Jones County line, you've got a bunch of safe suburban/rural neighborhoods, both black, white, and racially mix neighborhoods. You can go out by GEICO and it 100% rural and safe. I live 6 miles from there, yet it's still all the Eastside. Then you have areas like Fort Hill/Davis Home that are very low income and high crime and also Kings Park where there was just a shooting recently. I dont even remember the last time I've been in Kings Park. I honestly could probably count the times I've been to that neighborhood IN LIFE on 1 hand. All of this is the Eastside. Very different types of neighborhoods. You cant even paint this die of town with one broad brush, let alone the entire city. The problem isn't Macon as an entire city. The problem is your neighborhood is bad. There are many of us who dont live in bad neighborhoods with completely different experiences.

Another note: If your husband is having such a tough time finding work; he must have felonies? I'm not putting him down; I have felonies. Macon has too many construction projects on the table for anybody who's serious about working. 2 shopping centers, 2 hotels and a bowling on the north side. 3 hotels on the west. A tire plant to the south. A charter school, the lofts at College Hill, Mid city square, The Mercer lofts and several smaller projects in and around downtown. Tell him to get up, get out and get something. BTW the fire dept is always hiring. Several of them told me. That just aint 4 me.

Yes, xDarrylx...he do have an arresting record, no felonies yet, but it don't look good for him toward employers. And he have work briefly in construction this past year but the had laid off due to manage/owner scamming the books.

I am not trying to say Macon is bad, but if you don't have serious cash, you can not afford to live off Bass Rd, Shirley Hill area....those area do cost money to live in. And you can far out to the East side, but rarely do I see any vacancy for rent (for right now).

But thank you all for your comments.
