Hi, anyone ever use the Lidl vitasia tom kha paste or their similar curry pastes? It seems to be a soup base, but there are no instances the packet. Searching online doesn't turn up anything. How would you use it?
Thanks!

Personally, I purchase a lot of Tom Yum pastes, usually from a brand produced in Vietnam or Thailand. Tom Kha is generally a little richer as it has coconut milk involved.

I usually add 2 TBSP to two cups of water. Generally, I will add a variety of mushrooms and some fresh cilantro. A lot of people will add either cooked chicken or raw shrimp. If I am using it for a full meal, I will generally add some rice sticks or ramen style noodles.

Tom kha (ต้มข่าไก่) is indeed a soup. Searching online turns up many results. A good site for Thai cooking is that of Khun Pai: https://hot-thai-kitchen.com/tom-ka-gai/

We’ve used the “Mae Ploy” & “Maesri” brand Thai yellow & green curry pastes, to prepare both Thai yellow and green curry dishes. From what I can tell, no discernible difference between the two brands.

One caution:: the green pastes are fiery hot! The instructions on the can call for a whole can to be added. We did, the first time we prepared the dish and had to throw it out - it was too spicy. We’ve found a 1/3rd of the can suits our tastes with a balance of spiciness and curry flavor.
