I want to throw a party in October for Halloween and Im on a budget. I'm trying to plan ahead of time so I can coupon, comp some prices etc. I know I wanna serve appetizers and some sort of main meal. I'm not super crafty but I am open to Halloween food suggestions but it doesn't have to be. If someone could help me come up with an affordable menu that would be awesome. The party list is maybe 10 people.
My go to main dish for a number of people is always Baked Ziti..
Most people love Italian food, it can be prepared several days in advance and it's relatively inexpensive..
Not to mention easy to self serve and cook the day of the event..
I'm doing Ziti for 50 on Friday night for a church function, with salad and garlic bread..
I will start cooking at 2:00 and everything will be done when doors open at 6:00..
I would think for an event like Halloween, you would want themed food and decorations. Pinterest is your friend. There are TONS of idea sites for Halloween, with very budget-friendly ideas.
Candy apples or taffy apples (or slices of these) are kind of a Fall must-have.
Pumpkin pie. Mince meat pie. Mulled wine, punch, and cider.
It's easy to come up with desserts... a main course is a bit trickier for a Halloween theme. Anything seasonal and Autumn-themed would be appropriate though, IMO.
My mom always made a chili bar on Halloweens growing up, and we loved it.
Homemade chili offered with dishes of sour cream, grated cheddar, green onion, and chopped tomato, as well as baskets of tortilla chips/Fritos and saltines and/or other crackers. It's also nice with tortillas for chili cheese burritos.

This is perfect, delicious, and inexpensive. Dessert can be an inexpensive but already decorated cake from the grocery. Dollar Store will have inexpensive decorations.
I just went to Pinterest and tied in Halloween Food, so many great ideas! Makes me want to throw a party too.
I do like the chili idea, keep it warm in a crock pot and put the add ons around it, super easy. Make some fun apps and desserts to play into the theme.
