I know -- yet another thread about insurance companies. Please bear with me.
We were given a quote several months ago - staggering to be certain. We went to our agent - we all agreed that we would pay $7541 a year. Two weeks later, we receive our new policy and its approximately $1000 more. We return to our agent who can not understand why we were given a new quote. She begins to investigate but we hear nothing back. Two weeks later we get the notice that the amount based on the previous policy was paid and now we have a $5000+ balance which will be due March 22. I return to the agent who tells me not to worry, we will be hearing back from State Farm because things are changing on a daily basis and since rates are going down, etc.. We are now two days away from the due date on our balance, we have heard nothing about our rates changing, what to do about the balance... nothing. My neighbor, who just met with the same agent, tell us that State Farm may not be lowering their rates and the agent really can not provide any additional information. So, in short, we all continue to be in a holding pattern not knowing what to do and fearful if we complain, we will have our policies cancelled. Has anyone had the same situation with State Farm? Thank you. |

I would say yes, they are playing games. Here is what just happened to me with Liberty Mutual. I got a 100% increase in my wind storm rate bringing the total to $7200. When I questioned it I was told because my policy came due before June, I didn't get the benefit of the new changes but next year I will see a reduction. So, all I can think is they did a 100% raise when they could get away with it and will probably give me maybe a 25% or so reduction next year probable after another raise if they can get away with that. I saw a story on the news a few days ago and they said once you crunched the numbers most policy holders won't see much more then a 1% savings. It is one big "F"n joke on the public as the politicians stand around taking bows pretending they did something. Another thing no one ever mentions, is with these kinds of rates few people can just pay their policy when it comes due. They have to pay over time with the insurance company charging like 15% interest on the already ridiculous cost. We are getting it up the old kazoo no matter how you look at it. |

I am no wimp and all my life I have always felt in charge I usually did the talking and others did the listening. I have never been or felt like a victim in my life till now. As we talk about it I know my wife must look at me like I am going to do something about it. I am embarrassed I can't make things right. I can't hardly find someone to talk to. If you do get someone on the phone it is some useless person with no ability to help you even if they were so inclined, which they are not. I don't want to sound like the Tallrick from the Keys, but I want to hurt somebody. I would like a few minutes alone with one of those insurance executives and everyday I spend in jail would be worth it. I am getting very angry just writing this. |

I've had State Farm insurance for all my insurance needs for about the last 20 years. I've always been happy with them.
I'd move to a different area if I had to pay that kind of money per year in insurance. Our policy on a brand new home is $972/year! But in short, they haven't played any games with me... |

I am looking into what I can get as a personal liability policy to protect my assets against law suits. I don't care about the house I will just take my chances if it blows away. It's a chance in the millions anyway depending where it's sitting. I'll figure this thing out so I don't get screwed by those blood suckers anymore. If there is a way, I'll find it. |

The original quote for us was $11,000 but after increasing deductions, etc. we got it down to $7K+ (what a deal) - and sad to say, we were relieved to get it down to this - how warped. But this is how it is in south Florida.
I can not complain about State Farm, in general. I did speak to my agent again this morning who is telling me to hang on because she does know that there will be changes (different story from what my neighbor heard from the same agent yesterday). So we shall see. Stay tuned. Thanks for the input guys. |
