Which area? In Mt. Pleasant both Snee Farm and I'On Club are open to the public. I'On has a large initiation fee ($2100 normal, $1800 when on special as it is now) and runs ~$200 per month for a family. But it has two pools - one jr. olympic and one adults only, full workout facilities, tennis, social club as well. The Jr. Olympic pool is heated and even chilled in the summer allowing for year round swimming. It's the place to see and be seen in Charleston. It counts many from the Bravo show Southern Charm as members.
Snee Farm pool is a bit older and is unheated. More basic, but also less cost. Several hundred dollar initiation fee and monthly cost is about $70 I believe.
As we are only in mt pleasant for three weeks I think the initiation fees at I’On might be too high to justify. I have found a couple of places to the west of Charleston (Parkshore and Northbridge Park) that offer summer membership. I was hoping for something like that closer to Mt Pleasant. Any suggestions closer by would be amazing.

Mt. Pleasant does offer public pools, as does the city of Charleston. There are non-resident rates available.
No, its not outside ... which is why it wasn't suggested before.
Try the Creekside Tennis & Swim Club in Mount Pleasant. It's in a great neighborhood, convenient, off of 17. Was reasonable, too, last time I checked. https://creekside-club.com/
I have friends that are switching from Ion to Creekside. They join for kids but found Ion is more social and Creekside is more competitive for swimming and tennis- at least for the one of theirs that takes it more seriously.
I'm a little shocked the Ion crowd finds Southern Charm desireable. I know Ravenel supposedly leased a house there for Kathryn Dennis a couple of years ago.
Maybe look into the pool at Mixon- although I think that also has an 1k initiation. The City of Charleston pool at Harmon Field might also be worth a look. Or one of the county parks- I'm not sure if their pools are also competition pools.
