I'm looking for a new car and like Mazda6 and Altimas, and the2021 Mazda6 cost the same as a brand new Nissan Altima. It seems obvious that a new Altima is the way to go, but most online reviews say Mazda's are better cars. Now I don't know which to purchase.

What trim is the 6? If a GT, I vote 6. If a Sport, I vote Altima.

Mazda6 was discontinued. It has a well earned reputation as being the standout driver's car of the midsize sedans. But it was also far behind in many areas and very old when it was discontinued. It's a poor used car choice due to it being old and outdated with high used prices.

Altima is junky also ran. It might be worth the discount value buy. The only reason to get it was Nissan had a great V6 engine. That went away in 2018 so the only reason to get an Altima since then is a large discount.

Accord - driver's car
Camry - Stodgy reliable practical car
Sonata and K5 - Baubles. If you want all the options, best value for loaded cars with all the options.
Legacy - Snow.
Altima - Big Altima discounts.

What is outdated and behind with the Mazda6?

It boggles my mind that Mazda doesn’t have larger market share. They make fantastic vehicles.

Altimas have been “meh” at best for over a decade, so to me it’s going to be about how much a new car with a warranty is worth vs. having an intrinsically better car is worth to you.

To me it's not even about the warranty but just having something brand new and 3 years newer.

Being intimately familiar with the 6, I disagree it was "left behind".

The Signature Edition, cream of the crop. Show me one thing a new Altima has that this 3 year old 6 Sig doesn't.

Then you’ve made your decision already, and IMHO you don’t need us. Get to the Nissan dealer!

My wife just purchased a 24 Altima SR with the luxury package to replace her 2014 Maxima. We miss the V6 but the Altima is powerful enough at a decent price ($29,100 after negotiation).

My 2016 Altima SR is a pleasure to drive. I have more problems with the stigma than actual issues LOL.

Its like owing a million dollar home and having a TCL or Hisense TV, people will be like dang what did you do?
