Or is it more of a "white collar" city?

White collar/Trust Fund.

Almost zero meaningful manufacturing, and even that is sometimes on the white collar (tech) side.

I wouldn't call it mostly white collar, there are lots of service industry workers. But factories/manufacturing? No.

Several big semiconductor manufacturing sites, most notable Samsung. These are 'tech' jobs but that does not make them any different than any other factory really - they are dirtier than they will lead you to believe, and the qualifications to work there are basically the same as a steel mill.

There are several sand, gravel, stone, and lime plants in there area, as well as cement plants, but they are not inside the city limits (generally).

There are a variety of smaller industrial operations that may not fit in your category of 'factory'.

Waco is kind of the opposite - a ton of the traditional manufacturing companies/jobs.

There is very little manufacturing of chips going on in Austin. Most of it has gone to China (which we're told is a good thing because trade is good something something)

Samsung and NXP still make chips here, though, as well as AMD and Cypress, I believe. Samsung is massive by itself. While there is, relatively speaking, more design going on here, I would consider the manufacturing to be more than 'very little'.

Pfizer has a plant off welks branch and Michael Angelo foods is not far from there. Goodwill is constantly posting warehouse jobs. I’m never sure where they’re at, but to say the city doesn’t have any would be a lie.

That's quite a bit more technical than "factory work"
