Alabama National Guard Military Police guard the heavily damaged neighborhoods to prevent looting and enforce a curfew. As cleanup efforts move forward, state health officials said the greatest impact is now the emotional, especially for the youngest survivors; simply driving past the enormous destruction each day, hearing stories of survival has a great toll on the disaster survivors.
