Sat., November 3, 2012: Registration Confirmed
I received my email confirmation from the CQJP Chairperson, Kathy giving me the go ahead to begin planning my project.
This morning I went through my assortment of fabrics and embellishments, and selected my materials.
You can see them in my Album titled: "Crazy Quilt Journal Project."
Feel free to make comments here or on the album. Everyone's comments are welcome -- except for those inappropriate to the subject.
The materials I am restricting myself to use include:
Fabrics:
- Black cotton corduroy jumper fabric and buttons
- Black, maroon, cream, olive, and beige print rayon pants
- Slinky, stretchy knit originally purchased to make a slip (UFO)
- Black, gold, and creme rayon skirt
- Maroon polyester velvet dress
- Rayon print neck scarf print with pink and maroon flowers, olive leaves, on black background
- Small black velvet pouch
Embellishments:
- Three old doilies in various state of disrepair, beige & ecru
- Beige silk necktie
- Off-white lace ribbon fragment
- Polyester ribbons of various widths: black, off-white, light olive green, medium pink, maroon, and gold
- Various buttons, white seed beads and black trumpet beads
- Embroidery flosses in various shades, including: black, white, and various shades of pinks, greens, greys, and browns
You can see the materials in my album photo, here.
I intend to make each block 7" x 7" and reserve the right to recombine squares later, if the mood strikes.
That completes my project preparation. I will not continue working on the project until New Year's Day.Posted 11-03-2012 at 01:42 PM by LookinForMayberry -

I think I may start doing some small pieces again. I am very much an amateur (sp) and I don't know if my hands will work right now....LOL. (almost 70) thx for the link. I have really enjoyed looking through the crazy quilt pictures. Good luck.

January's Block
Thank goodness I had today to work on the block all day or I don't think I would've finished. I am happy to say it is done.
I learned a lot from it. It's been years since I've embroidered anything, and I've NEVER done an embellished crazy quilt before. I have no idea what February's will become.

Another month past, another block accomplished. It was more challenging to finish this one with the new job, but I think it turned out okay. I hope you enjoy seeing it as much as I did creating it.
As in the first, this one reflects the events of the month. I started the month feeling in the dark, questioning what my future held, only to discover soon after that it held a (contract) job with a Marine Transportation company. I learned more about my mother's family in my genealogy studies, and we celebrated the 27th anniversary of our first date. DH surprised me with a dozen red roses on Valentine's Day. Bigun and I found the first crocus blossoms in the midst of a clump of cotoneaster while out on a weekend walk. It was a good month.Posted 02-27-2013 at 06:15 AM by LookinForMayberry -
It was hard to choose what to include in this month's block, and with our nicer weather there were more demands on my time. I am not sure whether I am going to be able to keep up with this project much longer. It's harder now that I am working.Posted 03-31-2013 at 08:54 PM by LookinForMayberry
