Woodland Opera House Theatre

The Woodland Opera House Theatre was built in 1885 and brings professional theatre performances to the Woodland community. The theatre features a modern, computerized lighting system and an excellent natural acoustic system that makes the stage microphones practically unnecessary. The theatre is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is owned by the State of California. It is also a California Registered Historical Landmark and is considered a state historical park. The theatre offers a youth outreach program that enables students in Yolo County to gain experience attending and participating in the theatre arts. Performance classes are taught through the theatre and include performance, ballet, voice, theatre education and standard drama. Classes are popular for aspiring actors, students who want to learn more about theatre and home school students. In addition to traditional theatre performances like Alice In Wonderland and the Wizard of Oz, the Woodland hosts a variety of live musical performances throughout the year. Both local and national acts appear at the theatre, bringing a variety of cultural fun to the Woodland area. Tickets can be purchased for individual shows or as a performance series, enabling attendees to see a group of shows at a reasonably discounted price.
