Western Trail Rides


Western Trail Rides offers a place where visitors to Ojai can enjoy the great outdoors on horseback. They offer a variety of horseback experiences for people of all ages. They are located in the Ojai Valley in the southern part of the state, surrounded by the mountain ranges of the Los Padres National Forest. Many of the trails that run through the forest start on the Western Trail Rides ranch. The ranch entertains groups of people, individuals or private parties. Regardless of skill level and age, the ranch will help you learn to ride and enjoy an afternoon on horseback. Trail rides are offered Monday through Saturday from ten in the morning until sunset. Rides may last up to three hours but can be shortened to as little as an hour. Riders are required to wear closed-toe shoes and long pants and it is recommend they wear sunglasses or hats, sunscreen and bring a bottle of water. Cameras are also encouraged. In addition to rides, the ranch also offers lessons. Horse Experiences is a great option for the littlest riders and offers kids three and up a chance to get acquainted with the horses before mounting them. Horseback riding class is offered for children seven and up and is an introduction to horses, horsemanship and beginning western-style horseback riding. Advanced lessons are also available and may cover advanced riding techniques, in-depth horsemanship, and a skills evaluation. The ranch is a popular destination for birthday parties and also hosts summer horse camp.
