Welk Resort San Diego


Just off Interstate 15 north of Escondido, CA, resides the Welk Resort San Diego, offering families a full menu of activities and luxurious accommodations.

When Lawrence Welk went for a drive in 1964 to locate an orange grove to acquire, he ended up buying a golf course and hotel instead. When Welk hosted one of his variety television shows at the hotel, it made the resort a popular southern California destination. Since then, the Welk Resort has added additional golfing, a theatre, and timeshares.

Located on 600 acres of the San Diego area, the Welk Resort San Diego entertains guests with five recreational centers, water play areas, and other activities for all ages. The resort's accommodations come with fully-equipped kitchens, complimentary high-speed internet, patios or balconies with scenic views of the mountains or golf course, fireplaces, and jetted tubs. Guests have a choice between one- or two-bedroom suites or villas that range in size from 585 to 1,370 square feet.

The Welk Resort San Diego resides less than an hour by car north of San Diego International Airport and is close to other tourist attractions, including San Diego's Wild Animal Park, Legoland, Deer Park Winery and Auto Museum, Antique Gas & Steam Engine Museum, Flower Fields, Oceanside Museum of Art, Mission San Luis Rey Parish, and numerous beaches.
