Valencia Peak Trail

Valencia Peak Trail peaks at 1,347 feet and has a spectacular 360 degree view of Montaña de Oro, Morro Bay, Los Osos Valley and the rugged coastline from Point Sal to Piedras Blancas. The chain of morros leading to San Luis Obispo are in full view from this trail. The trail crosses grasslands and straddles a ridge between two canyons before climbing directly up to the coastal peak. The hiking trail is approximately four miles in length and gains an elevation of 1,150 feet. It is an out and back type of trail that is open year round with the nearest city of San Luis Obispo in full view.

Hiking the trail takes approximately two hours and provides a beautiful hike with a steep climb but well worth the views it offers. At times there is dense fog cover over the peak which makes the climb even more beautiful and mystical. The Montana de Oro State Park rangers recommend hiking this trail throughout the day and packing bottled water and a first aid kit. Hiking boots are recommended due to the terrain and intense elevation hike. Sunscreen is also recommended because of the exposure to the sun during this hike.
